The Storm before the calm

Dont’ panic, I know that’s not how the saying goes, but it is what’s happening right now at the George household.

It’s been a big week, and instead of getting ready to hit the road on Tuesday, I have been out almost every night at either periodic social outings that all happened to find themselves in the same week or extra kids activities or work. It’s been a fun week, but it’s been complicated by the fact that our washing machine and dryer also died so we haven’t even been able to prepare into the wee hours of the morning after our busy nights. But good news, the new washer and dryer arrived Saturday morning and I have now packed two of the three kids bags… so we will go go go until we get on the road and then it will be too late, hopefully allowing at least a forced calm. That is until the ‘are we there yet questions’ start!

Just to add some bonus chaos to the mix, I decided last night that we really did some family tee’s for the trip. Earlier this year I made t-shirts for my kids and their cousins when we went to Tasmania to celebrate their grand-dad’s, my father-in-law’s, 70th birthday. They started out as a crowd control measure as I attempted to fly to Tassie with three kids by myself, but they were also a hit in their own right. Last night at dinner a friend asked if there would be t-shirts for this trip, and it hadn’t even crossed my mind, but the seed was planted and so now I am madly design in and setting the Cricut to work to make us t-shirts for the trip. We will surprise Dave with them on Tuesday morning, or maybe Monday night, I am hopeless with fun secrets… either way they will be made even if I go crazy doing it… there is so much to do and so little time… so enough typing… more making!
